Message from the President:
Hello! I am honored to serve as your CASPEN president for 2020.
What a year 2020 has been thus far, and a unique time to be in healthcare given the current global pandemic, COVID-19. It is incredible to be a part of ASPEN; an organization that is stepping up in times of uncertainty to provide timely and comprehensive guidelines for providing nutrition care to this compromised population. It is important to remember just how vital nutrition support is to these critically ill patients, and seeing the camaraderie amongst nutrition professionals across the country makes me proud to me a member of this field.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or other members of our board if you are interested in volunteering and being on one of our committees. Without help from our volunteers and the support of our members, CASPEN would not be the chapter that it is today!
We are also always looking for new members to expand our network. Getting involved with CASPEN is an exciting way to meet clinicians in your field of practice, stay up to date with the latest guidelines, and contribute to the field of nutrition support. Our members drive our organization and we are proud to be one of the largest chapters of ASPEN.
We wrapped up last year with a half day seminar entitled “Medical Management of Parenteral Nutrition Patients.” We had a panel including physicians, dietitians, and nurses who shared their expertise on best practices for management of this nutritionally complex patient population.
We have several events planned for you this upcoming year in order to enhance your nutrition support practice and knowledge. Our spring dinner meeting will be held virtually this year, given the need for social distancing in the community. We will be hosting a webinar on April 29th, titled “Nutrition and Pharmacological Management of Post Organ Transplant Patients”. If you are interested in participating, please RSVP to: email@example.com.
I look forward to networking with you at future events. Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful spring!
